Solution

Our customer, an online shoe store, was getting ready for a big sale. The traffic on the website was expected to increase fivefold, so the customer had to know whether it could handle the increased load during the peak season.

Challenge

Our specialist used boomq.io to create a load testing scenario based on the customer's Google Analytics data. Two testing iterations were then conducted.

The first iteration showed that the website was not prepared for the increased traffic. Its caching was not configured, and the NGINX and DB configurations were suboptimal, so the website could handle only a threefold increase in traffic, not the fivefold increase that the customer anticipated.

Based on the first test results, our load testing specialist provided the customer with detailed recommendations on website optimization.

When the optimizations had been completed, we performed a second testing iteration, which showed that the optimized website could handle a sevenfold increase in traffic. A comparative report on the test results was provided to the customer.

Result

Load testing with Boomq.io helped our customer find flaws in his website's architecture. Our recommendations increased its performance by over two times, so now it's ready for any sales or marketing campaign. Upon the project's completion, the customer received a fully configured testing scenario, so, in the future, he can easily conduct load testing by himself.
